About

A door with nothing behind it.

An installation for a single room: a five-metre aperture cut into a false wall, backlit and fogged, with no passage on the other side.

The haze is calibrated so the light has something to land on. Without it the opening reads as a flat rectangle; with it, the room acquires a depth it does not have.

Visitors were given no instruction. Most stopped at the same distance, roughly four metres out, and stayed longer than they expected to.
