About
A portrait made of light.
We shot a single subject in a blacked-out studio and drew the image around them with moving light. Nothing is composited: every streak in the frame was made in camera, across exposures of four to eleven seconds.
Two sources do the work. A tungsten head warms the trail as it passes the face; a cold source rakes the shoulder and cuts the silhouette back out of the dark.
The visor is practical. It carries its own light, so the head stays readable while the body dissolves into movement.
Thirty-two frames were made in one night. The one that survived is the one where the subject stopped breathing for the length of the exposure.
